January Featured Beach: Divorce Beach

Over the years, we’ve shown Lover’s Beach a lot of, well, love. And why wouldn’t we? The beautiful and isolated location, awesome views of Medano Beach, snorkel-worthy waters and proximity to The Arch make it perfect. Alas, Divorce Beach tends to be an afterthought. This is all about to change. Our January Featured Beach is none other than … DIVORCE BEACH!

Located at the tip of Baja, Divorce Beach is a small stretch of sand on the Pacific side of Land’s End. It is connected to the much more popular Lover’s Beach by a pathway between boulders. Like Lover’s, Divorce Beach is really only accessed by boat. *For those looking to get some exercise, it is possible to climb up to the top of Solmar Mountain (the cross on Land’s End) and down to the beach. We, however, don’t recommend this for most. Water taxis can take you from the marina or from Medano Beach to Lover’s Beach and from there it’s only a matter of yards to Pacific side.

Here’s the thing about Divorce Beach: You can’t swim there. Like many of the Pacific Ocean beaches in Los Cabos, the current is strong and quite unsafe. As a rule of thumb, it is just not a good idea to chance things (aka your safety) with a swim. No lifeguards and lifesaving equipment mean you’re on your own. Nevertheless, there is no reason you can’t enjoy a quiet afternoon enjoying the Pacific Ocean views. Bring a picnic, water and some sunscreen and lounge in the sand. Divorce Beach will almost always be more quiet than the Sea of Cortez side. When you need to take a dip, head back a few paces to Lover’s Beach for a swim.
