First Fishing Report of September: Pisces Sport Fishing

Overall Catch Success Rate (All Species Combined): 87.5%

According to our friends at Pisces Sport Fishing in Cabo San Lucas, it was a good week for anglers, despite our friend Norbet (aka that annoying storm last week). On Saturday, the billfish catches were great with all but one of their boats reeling one in. As the week wore on, and Norbert moved closer, the catches were a bit tougher to come by. Nevertheless, Tuesday was a great day on the seas with many of our boats and our anglers catching some hefty sailfish. A pair from Texas also reeled in a massive 250-pound blue marlin! When Hurricane Norbert hit on Thursday and Friday, the region experienced 20-foot waves and the port was forced to close.

Numbers at a Glance:

Billfish: 46%
Dorado: 48%
Tuna: 21%
Other: 16%

Locations: Pacific – Cabrillo, Golden, Gaspareno, and Pescadero

Weather Conditions: Skies were blue until Hurricane Norbert hit on Thursday.

Water Temperature: 85 degrees

Best Lures: Caballito, petrolero, and green, purple and white/blue lures.
